THE BUILDING
The "Before, During and After"
Transforming a restaurant into an art gallery
The "Before, During and After"
Transforming a restaurant into an art gallery
Over the years, the building has housed a number of different businesses,
starting out as a bakery in the 1940's, and into the 60's.
After that, it was a gift shop, café, a flower shop, deli, and pizzeria.
Each occupant added their own "flair" to the place, and I guess we have done the same,
keeping some elements of the building's history where we could by reusing
and re-purposing materials while uncovering some of the original features of the structure,
including the glass block, pigmented structural glass panels (vitrolite or carrara glass),
some of which we were able to save.
